About the Clovelly Shoot

The Clovelly Shoot forms part of the Clovelly Estate which is owned by the Rous family and is set above the Ancient working fishing village of Clovelly between Bideford and Bude and can truly be described as set in a dramatic and unique location. We offer predominantly driven pheasant shooting but for the forthcoming season of 2012 are introducing partrige to the shoot for the first time.

The Shoot comprises over 2,000 acres of deep long and steep wooded drives, most of which border the sea and have superb views across towards Bideford Bay, The Taw and Torridge estuaries and Lundy Island.

During its years of operation, Clovelly Shoot has long been regarded as offering some of the highest pheasant shooting in England and offers some superb shooting for visiting teams. With the two main beats of The Hobby Beat and Mouth Mill – we  offer driven shooting at its best.

We  have had 4 excellent seasons  and are receiving a high demand for repeat bookings.  Due to popular request, as well as running driven days, we are running syndicate style days for single/multiple guns throughout the season.

We run Driven Days from 150 to 400 bird days and for the first time this year, will be offering smaller days of 80 to 120 bird days primarily during October and January with a few vacancies also available during the rest of the season.

The shoot is  under the  ownership and guidance of Charles Goucher who is locally based and has expertly produced quality poults for shoots for over 25 years and as a result has a keen and in depth knowledge of the quality of bird required to produce successful shooting.

Charles has been shooting since a child and  has a wealth of experience in the operation of successful shoots, together with a keen eye and knowledge on what the paying gun/team expects and will guarantee a warm and courteous welcome and a very hospitable day with challenging and exciting  shooting all in a unique location.

Quote from visiting Team of Guns :

" Charles Goucher joined us for a pre-dinner drink and explained the kit and batting order for the coming days. Charles had just taken the shoot on and had made several changes to the keepering and presentation of some of the beats and drives. With 35 years experience and the wealth of knowledge, I was confident he had improved what was already regarded as one of the most challenging shoots in the UK".

“We aim to create a day to remember from the spectacular location, to the to the quality of each and every drive –
Clovelly really is the ultimate days shooting”
